Fast feet in Futsal skill session.

Fast feet in Futsal skill session.

Two experts came to TCAS on Monday to give the junior classes some hot tips on how to play Futsal.

Kris Ridley & Keegan Grey from Football South visited school on Monday to take skills sessions on Futsal with our Years 1-8.

Futsal is a football-based game played on a hardcourt like a basketball court, smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper and the game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique. Some techniques taught included juggling, dribbling, passing, body control, and spatial awareness.

The ākonga throughly enjoyed their time and as a result we have seen a few more sign ups for Term 3 Futsal which is being held in South Otago. Kris and Keegan did enjoy their time with us at TCAS as they said it was a pleasure to visit our school. They commented that the kids had great manners, and were well behaved and engaged with the sessions that were delivered.
