Bronze Medal placing for this years' Top Team!
The final challenges were revealed and the Year 7 and 8 team gave it their absolute all in the challenges, placing third overall for the year!
Wednesday saw our Years 7 and 8 head back to the Cross Recreation Centre in Balclutha to compete in the final Top Team challenge of the year. The Top Team competition is open to all schools in the Clutha district and challenges students in their sporting abilities, strength, teamwork and general knowledge to see which school will reign Top Team supreme. Each event involves a different quiz and different sports or activities.
There were some familiar challenges from the year and also some new challenges and we were fortunate to have a sunny day.
Teams had to hold a skipping rope with one hand creating a line. The objective was to hold on to the rope at all times and move around outside to find clues in a scavenger hunt. The clues were pieces of paper dotted around the area from under the foot bridge, on a post, the grandstand behind a chair, and at the football club. They then gathered all the words together to make a sentence. It was an interesting challenge that involved a lot of running and communication.
Next there was a game of Bombardment. Bombardment is when two teams face each other on a parallel line and throw various sized and weighted balls at a swiss ball in the middle of the playing court. Hitting the large target then creates momentum for the swiss ball to roll over and hopefully enough to get to the other team where the goal line is. Plenty of strategic moves and various techniques were on display and the highlight was winning a few games against the other schools.
Thank you to the team for giving it your absolute all this year and special thanks to Nat Harrex, Alyssa McDougall and Robyn Lietze for your organising, photos, and keeping the team encouraged over the year.
That is it for the year and the results are in. What an achievement that TCAS has placed third overall this year! Great work team!
