Making a splash at Swimming Sports!

The results are in from swimming sports! Find out what house takes the win, record breakers and placegetters.

The much anticipated swimming sports was held this term in two parts. The seniors headed to the pool in late October before they left for study leave to have a chance to compete and break records. It was an full on morning with back to back races but the seniors took it in their stride and were able to knock it out of the park.

On Wednesday, Years 0 to 10  represented their houses as they headed over to the pool as a school. Room 1 were the first to compete with board kicking, egg and spoon races, kangaroo hops, diving for rings and widths. Room 2 were the next to try the fun games followed by Room 3. The lane ropes were put in and then lengths commenced with Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Individual Medley on offer. These races were offered from 25m through to 100m. Students gave it their absolute best and it was great to see all abilities take on the challenge.

The house relay took a twist with the addition of the teachers entering a team and swimming. This was the definite highlight to finish the day on if the crowd's roaring was anything to go by. The teachers' team was made up of Mrs Wilkinson, Robyn, Nat and Mr B and they managed to marginally take the win from Nora, followed by Manuka and Surat in third.

Special thanks to Nat, Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Cairns for your organization and running of the day, and to the senior students who came to the pool especially to help with setup, swimming with the younger students and encouraging your houses. Also thank you to our amazing timekeepers, Adele Dawkins, Kerri Nakajima, Mr Bloxham, Nadine Perrin, Linda Wilson and Alyssa McDougall.

Final placings for house groups are in and this time Nora has taken the win with 505 points, closely followed by Manuka on 492 points and Surat in third with 278. Congratulations Nora!

Results were also outstanding this year with 33 record breaking swims. Congratulations to all students for giving it a go, whether you placed, broke a record or just gave it everything you had.
