Agri Kids Challenge proves a hit!
Four TCAS teams headed to partake in a mammoth farming challenge!
Last Saturday, with perfect farming weather, young farm enthusiasts from across South Otago gathered to compete in the Agri Kids Competition at the South Otago A & P show. TCAS had a great turnout and fielded four teams to take on the challenge.
The day began rather early (just like for real farmers), with a briefing and plenty of smiles to set the tone. Teams were then rotated around module stations designed to test their practical skills and farm smarts. Each team had five minutes per station to display their farming knowledge.
Some of the tasks included putting up an electric fence, throwing a gumboot, answering a quiz, constructing a cow's digestive system, plant sunflower seeds, aiming a drench gun at a target, and identifying crops. The event was filled with laughter, teamwork, and impressive demonstrations of skill.
The competition was expertly organized, and we extend hugest thanks to Mrs. McDougall and Mr. Diedrichs for their efforts in coordinating and supervising the teams. A special thank you goes to Nathan Wilson, Phil Bradfield, and Olivia Parkes, who volunteered their time to share their farming expertise with the students at lunchtimes before the event.
It was definitely a day to remember, and was great to see the incredible talents and enthusiasm of our young farming community. Well done to all the participants for their hard work and great attitude!
